This training is through the American Heart Association. The course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care providers. It teaches individuals the skills necessary to recognize life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies and manage illnesses and injuries for the first few minutes until professional help arrives. It covers the steps of first aid such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen, as well as adult, infant, child CPR and AED. Through "hands-on" training and video demonstrations, students will learn the standard protocols for administering proper CPR techniques, using mouth-to-mask ventilation and understand when and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
